Meet your host family: Sallyann in France

NEW! Welcome to our home

Hello! We’re Mike and Sallyann, and we’re thrilled to call the stunning Poitou Charente region of southwest France our home! Nestled in a charming rural hamlet, we share our lives with our adorable Lhasa Apso pups, Teddy and Lottie, who add to the joy of our adventures.

In the UK, Mike was a hospitality director in the private care sector, while Sallyann worked as a data manager in education. We’ve had the pleasure of hosting a wonderful array of students from France, Germany, and Spain, including French language students who stayed with us for nine months. It was an incredible experience that allowed us to immerse ourselves in their cultures while showcasing the warmth of the British way of life!

As proud owners of a caravan, we love nothing more than embarking on weekend getaways, exploring picturesque sites across the UK and France. Our passion for travel, meeting new friends, and cooking delightful meals means there’s always something exciting happening around here!

When you visit us, get ready for a fantastic time! Dive into our inviting 10 by 5 inground pool, relax in our lush garden, and enjoy birdwatching among the many beautiful species that call this area home. We can't wait to share our little slice of paradise with you!

Your English immersion experience :
A typical day with us

After breakfast, the excitement kicks in as we plan our day’s adventures! Once the itinerary is set, we grab the pups for a brisk walk to energize us. Our first stop? The vibrant local market, where we dive into a treasure trove of fresh, local produce. Afterwardsd, we return home, unload our goodies, and whip up a delicious lunch—normally, Mike dons his chef's hat to create something scrumptious.

With our bellies full, it's time for some fun! During the summer, we love to jump into the refreshing pool or venture to our local beach. There, we soak up the sun, splash around, enjoy a tasty ice cream, or stroll along the shoreline. Thrill-seekers can also choose from kayaking or a friendly game of tennis or table tennis. Alternatively, it's the perfect moment to unwind with a good book in the shade.

As the sun sets, the evening brings more joy! Mike often settles in for a movie marathon, or we might indulge in some friendly competition with a jigsaw puzzle. The key to an unforgettable experience is knowing what excites you most—so let’s make the most of our time together!
