OXFORD HOMESTAY with LESSONS & ACTIVITIES
WELCOME to our profile! My name is Caroline and I'm an experienced teacher based in Oxford.
ABOUT US
Andrew and I would love for you to stay with us in beautiful Oxford. We live in a 3-bedroom cottage with a garden and our friendly dog, Saffron.
I'm qualified to teach General and Business English. I enjoy helping and motivating; it is fulfilling to contribute to students' progress. I studied languages and experienced homestay, so I know the challenges of learning a language. I started teaching in 2004. I have taught children as young as 4, teenagers, adults, and professionals abroad and in the UK. I am now a self-employed online English teacher who also offers homestay in the summer. My hobbies are Pilates, swimming, reading, walking Saffron and discovering countries and cultures.
Andrew is a Head of Digital Products and a keen tennis player. He enjoys cooking & my personal favourite dishes are his mint Moroccan salad with hummus & pitta bread or salmon with guacamole & wild rice.
Why TOTAL LANGUAGE IMMERSION with us?
From the moment you step into our home, you will speak English. As the days go by, you will surprise yourself, become more fluent and confident in English and develop soft skills.
You can expect a comfortable private bedroom with a double bed, a clean house, freshly made and hearty meals with food you enjoy, and a breakfast of your choice. We cook fresh food daily, and you will be welcome to help us.
As a rule, under 18 are not left alone. We regularly text photos to parents. I have a clean driving license, Professional Indemnity & Public Liability insurance, gas Safety and DBS Certificates (Police checked), and smoke alarms & carbon monoxide detectors fitted in our home.
To give our homestay students the best experience, I take time off from teaching online. The maximum length of stay is 7 to 8 days, including arrival & departure. You can stay on your own or come with a friend. I have two spare rooms.

I only offer total immersion WITH LESSONS that usually take place in the morning except at the weekend and on the day of arrival and departure. We study for no more than one or two hours as we go on an activity in the afternoon for you to discover Oxfordshire and the culture or history.
To make this experience successful and help you achieve your goals, we guarantee our full attention. There will be no other guests of the same nationality. This is total immersion.
ABOUT OUR ROUTINE
From Monday to Friday, the morning starts with breakfast, and our class usually begins after that. I prioritize speaking activities. Once we have discussed your objectives and I have assessed your English, you get to choose a book adapted to your level so we can read it every morning and talk while focusing on your errors. There is no class at the weekend or on arrival or departure.
We have lunch together, and then we go on an activity of your choice to discover the sights, history, culture, and area, except on Friday, when we go shopping and bake brownies. There are free and chargeable activities to choose from, and we highly recommend them as Oxford is a prime film location and such a beautiful historical place. Every day, we take our small dog, Saffron, on a walk in the beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. It's an excellent opportunity for us to talk.
In the evening, we prepare freshly made food, and you are welcome to cook with us. We sit for dinner around 7 or 8 p.m. and talk about the day and the activities we did. We can then watch a film of your choice, go for a walk or play croquet in the garden. We always take our students on any of our outings.
At the weekend, we do our chores around the house, but we also go on an activity in the afternoon. When we don't have students staying, we garden, go to the cinema, attend live entertainment, or go to the theatre.
After a day or two, students usually feel very relaxed and naturally sit or play in the garden or chat with family or friends who come to visit.
