Welcome to Dana's house Learn, explore, have fun!
Copy: We are a warm, friendly and welcoming mother, son and daughter family who love entertaining and having new visitors to share our home and family life. I worked at a local Catholic secondary school but now I am an English as a second language teacher and have been for eight years . ! have hosted and taught 41 students from France, Italy, Spain and Martinique. My daughter is a student at a Church of England A level college and was a member of the Redbridge swimming club. She was also on her school's netball and handball teams and often competed with nearby schools. My son is an engineer and also runs a sales and marketing business In his spare time he makes short films.
We enjoy long forest walks, hiking, cycling, swimming, sightseeing, visits to the cinema and cooking. Our home is in Kettering a picturesque and very beautiful area which is a large park with open spaces, woodlands and a variety of activities for the whole family. We are not very far from trails perfect place for bike riding , traffic-free walking, natural play, camping and wildlife watching. There is also kayaking or canoeing for those who love a bit of excitement. The nearest shopping retail park is 15 mins away and the largest shopping area in the in the Borough.
We live in a 4 bedroom bedroom detached house with 2 bathrooms,, a good sized kitchen, a large living room and dining room area and a lovely garden. Our guests use the single room which has a and a single bed, 1 wardrobe. They also have free access to wifi and are free to use the kitchen, family room, garden and watch television. They may also use the washing machine.
Full immersion with 2 cultural visits and 1 local activity:
1 full day visit to London: M&M world, China Town, Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben (usually on a Saturday).
1 half day visit to Leicestershire: National Space Centre (usually on a Wednesday)
1 local activity: Either cooking, cinema, hiking, shopping etc (Mon, Tuesday, Thursday OR Friday).
The guest gets full board/half board/bed and breakfast along with 2 cultural visits and 1 local activity per week.
On a typical day, we have breakfast at 8 am and lessons start at 9 am. We have lunch at midday and leave home by 1 pm. I take my students into London 3 times a week, usually Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Some of the places we visit are: Buckingham palace, St. James park, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, M&M World, Hamleys toy store, Fortnum and Masons, Covent Garden, Tower Bridge, Tower of London, Borough Market, Camden Market, Thames Clipper boat tour, The British museum etc. During the evening after dinner, we watch films or play games.
We normally hike on the weekend. Sunday is a more relaxed day. We have a lie in then cook a big family breakfast. It's usually all hands on deck to prepare family dinner or we sometimes eat at the local Family pub.
Notre fille de 14 ans, Louise vient de passer 10 jours chez Dana. Nous avons, en tant que parents, été vraiment ravis de la communication en amont et pendant le séjour : en effet, Dana nous envoyait chaque jour quelques photos de la journée. Notre fille s'y est beaucoup plue et Dana a vraiment répondu à ses besoins : shopping, visites culturelles...Elle a même emmené notre fille dans une salle d'escalade et voir une comédie musicale. Nous avons vu les photos où notre ado était souriante et profitait vraiment de son séjour. Une très belle expérience pour elle et rassurante pour nous.
