Meet your host family: Marianne in United Kingdom

Welcome to Marianne in UNESCO City of Bath

Hello! I am Marianne, a 51 year old active, nature-loving triathlete and osteopath, living in the beautiful UNESCO World Heritage city of Bath with my cat, Tess. We have the perfect mix of activities here, including the stunning historic architecture of the original Roman Baths, the Royal Crescent and Pulteney Bridge. Outside the Georgian city you find yourself in glorious countryside complete with pretty villages, quiet canal paths and wooded walks. Perfect for cycling, walking or running!

Your English immersion experience :
A typical day with us

We could start with breakfast out on the patio before taking a gentle stroll through the nearby Botanical Gardens, passing the famous Royal Crescent and Circus. We'll stop for a cup of tea (a very English pursuit!) in my favourite cafe, then continue down through Jane Austen's Milsom Street to visit the Roman Baths or the Bath Abbey.

After lunch, we could cycle along the canal path, through wooded valleys and over Victorian aqueducts on the way to the pretty village of Bradford on Avon. A pleasant hour spent looking around (or perhaps a wild swim in the river Avon!) before we return to Bath through the Two Tunnels cycleway, with its 1600m long disused railway tunnel.

Time to relax and recharge at home in the evening, talking and enjoying some home-cooked English food.

My home is just 50 meters from the bus stop to Bristol airport and into the city centre!

Paid options organized by the family

You can also get the public bus "AirDecker" from Bristol airport to the end of my road! That currently costs £22 return and takes about 1 hour each way.

Taxis from Bath bus station or railway station directly to my house would be approximately £10 each way.
I can offer lessons based around speaking skills, reading or writing in English. In addition to any language lessons you may book, there will be plenty of time to talk every day in English over meals or during outings, plus of course we can watch English films in the evening.

There are lots of options for outings - some are free (walks, cycles, etc) and some require an entry fee (Roman Baths, visits to historic sites etc). I can organise tickets for anything you would like to see.
I can offer options for running, swimming and cycling.
