We look forward to seeing you in our home in Madrid :)
I live with my two small children in a lovely house next to the center of Madrid. We have the best of the city because we are very close to the center, but we live in a housing development that makes us feel like we are in the countryside; it has a huge meadow, is full of trees, a ping pong table, a playground, and even a family of rabbits that we have named. We also have a pool that opens during the summer.
I would love for my children to have the opportunity to interact with people from other cultures for cultural enrichment.
I am a psychologist and work in HR at a Dutch multinational company in the technology sector. I speak English, a bit of Portuguese, and I can also invent my way through French.
I am fascinated by my city and know it very well; it is a source of pride for me to live in the capital of Spain with such an immense cultural and leisure offer. Iconic monuments, museums, parks, medieval squares, and palaces await you in the most traditional Madrid. It would be a pleasure to accompany you and show you the most representative aspects of my beautiful city. Depending on the days of your stay, we also have several cities nearby that are recognized as World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, and if you are interested, we could visit one.
If your stay coincided with Holy Week or Christmas, don't doubt that your experience will be unforgettable because both times are lived with great intensity and in a very special way in Spain.
I will receive a maximum of 1 guest and I could consider hosting young people who are 17 years old and are about to turn 18, after previously assessing their profile and level of autonomy.
There will only have been hosted 1 guest at most.
From Monday to Friday, we wake up early, I take my children to school, and at 6 PM, I finish work. Three days a week, I work from home, so on the days I stay at home, we can have lunch together. Although the most special moment of the day is dinner time because we take the opportunity to talk about everything we have done during the day.
We really enjoy cooking, so if you feel like it, we could prepare a dish together, and I'll show you how to make the famous Spanish potato omelette and a typical Spanish tapa.
During the week, I could suggest a cultural plan for you to do on your own during the hours I am working; if you prefer, I could help you find an academy where you can take Spanish classes, although I can give you 5 hours of lessons a week if you wish.
Starting at 6 PM, we could join you. At home, you have a study table and a large park if you prefer to stay here.
We love nature, music, cooking, and gastronomy, going to exhibitions and museums, the theater and cinema, attending concerts, going for walks, visiting amusement parks, skating, and playing football (my kids are the experts; I just participate). If you like culture, together we could explore the city and visit the famous Royal Palace, the Prado Museum (even at night, on the first Saturday of the month, it opens with DJs), the Madrid History Museum, and some of the many temporary exhibitions that are in the city.
