Homestay in West London - The Queen of Suburbs
We are a British family who loves to explore the world and have lived in London, Singapore, Dubai and are now happily settled in a beautiful town of West London, where it's known as The Queen of Suburbs.
I have 20+ years of experience in the corporate world and now I teach English as a foreign language and culinary skills. Besides being a tutor, I am also an examinations invigilator for international schools during GCSE and A Level exams. Outside work, I volunteer to share and teach students in my children's international schools during festive seasons. I am also involved in charity works including raising funds for the special needs in local schools. I love languages and I am bilingual in English and Mandarin. As a non-British, I understand the challenges faced by students learning English as a foreign language.
My husband is an investment banker and he loves traveling, trading, general knowledge, and science. My 17-year-old son loves basketball, rugby, aircraft, Japanese comics, and gaming. My 14-year-old daughter loves football, volleyball, drama, English, and reading.
We are located 8-10 minutes’ walk to Piccadilly lines, 15 minutes’ walk to Elizabeth and Central lines all taking you to central London within 45 minutes.
Ealing Broadway Mall, Westfield Mall, Hyde Park, Heathrow Airport, and local amenities are all within easy reach.
Guests can enjoy spacious and airy bedrooms with lots of natural lights coming through big and wide windows.
I can offer 1 bedroom with a king-sized bed for 2 guests and another room with 2 twin beds which are convertible sofa beds.
Students will have a 2 hour English lesson with me each day from Monday to Friday, usually in the morning.
For the half board and full board options, we will cook and eat most meals together. You might just pick up some cooking/baking techniques and tips. Please note it is not the same as a paid cooking/baking class.
We start the day with breakfast. Following that, we have a lesson to learn, discuss, engage, and prepare all about the topic of the day, such as Afternoon tea with Grandma. You will learn about this quintessential British tradition, its history, and etiquette. The lesson is always followed by an experiential activity. After lunch, depending on the interest, we will bake (or shop for) a snack such as scones/muffins/cakes for the tea, before we make our way to visit the grandma in her cottage. There are many opportunities during the day for you to show off the language as well as the subject you've learnt, in your interaction with other people in various environments.
