Hello and welcome to our family. We have been hosting students for more than 12 years. We offer three academic placements for September 2024, and now have two places remaining. In September 2024, I will have a 14-year-old Spanish girl who will stay for the full school year. We are open to short-term academic stays as well. We do not take more than two students of the same nationality, unless requested. In this case, the students are usually friends or family. Currently, we have three girls - one Spanish, one French, and one German - and they all attend the local school. Our house is full of laughter and a bit of craziness with so many teenagers. School in Ireland is a wonderful experience.
Hosting academic students is our specialty. The best way to learn the "English" language is to totally immerse yourself in school, make new friends and have the best experience of your life.
The price listed does not include school fees, uniform, books, and bus tickets.
There are lots of activities for teenagers to get involved with during their stay in Ireland. Soccer, Basketball, Scouts, Athletics, and lots more. Fees for these can be paid directly to the clubs.
This will depend on a person's preference. It can involve two students who are friends or family.
For academic students, a typical day begins at 7am. They have breakfast and put on their school uniforms (which might be different for international students). The mode of transportation to school can vary, whether it's by walking, car, or bus, depending on which school they attend. The bus departs for school at 8am. School starts at 8:45am, with a 15-minute break at 11am and lunch around 1pm, which lasts for about 50 minutes. School ends at 3:50pm.
Dinner is usually served around 6pm. Afterward, students may have extracurricular activities such as basketball, hurling, scouts, athletics, football, or youth club, which are all available in our local town, Thomastown. If there are no activities scheduled, students typically hang out in the TV room with Lee, where they can watch a series/movie, play cards, or engage in other leisurely activities.
On Saturdays and Sundays, students have a chance to relax. They can go shopping in Kilkenny, catch up with friends, watch a movie at the cinema, or go out to eat. It's common for our students to have friends visit our house, and sometimes they even spend the night.
