Hi everyone, my name is Caroline I am the mother and work full time for a Manufacturing company in Castlebar.
My husband Patrick works for Mayo County Council.
We have 4 Children, Leanne who is 21 and works full time in a Manufacturing company.
Shane 19 just completed his Leaving Certificate, and is taking a year out to work before he starts college next year, Shane hopes to study Cyber Security in ATU Sligo.
Megan, who is 16 has just completed her Junior Certificate and is doing transition year at the moment, Megan loves to socialise with her friends and reading.
Niall who is 12 is in 5th class in his local primary school, Niall has a keen interest in soccer, Gaelic, Basketball and swimming.
The students we would like to host would have to be 18 and over as they will be staying in a 2 bed apartment beside my home, equipped with open-plan living room and kitchen, washing machine and dryer, microwave, Air fryer etc,. shared bathroom and 2 double bedrooms. Everything you need for modern day living and independence.
We live in a beautiful village called Ballyglass which has very attractive sites all around such as Moorehall, Ballintubber Abbey, and Tourmakeady Waterfall.
We like people to use their initiative to keep their bedrooms and the apartment clean and tidy.
Bed Linen and towels also available in the apartment as a spare set to change their own beds.
My husband and I will be at work Monday-Friday from 7am-4pm as in full-time employment.
We have a newly converted garage into a 2 bed apartment with 2 double bedrooms, walk in shower, open plan kitchen living area. Offering a little privacy for the older guests and mature students, couples & families, if they so wish to cook for themselves the kitchen is fully equipped. Internet, wifi, smart tv, washing machine, dryer.
Students can also have the option of taking public transport from the airport to my home.
We will provide you with a bicycle, helmet and a high viz jacket for your own use.
During the week / weekend, guests can socialise with our children and we are available to show them local activities such as swimming pool, gym, cinema which guests can decide to pay for separately.
Bus tickets, museums, swimming pool, cinema or other activities can be purchased by the guests separately if they wish to.
We can host students for long or short term stays throughout the year as well as the full academic school year from Sept to May. We also offer the option of 3/6/9 month academic school stays. We organize everything with the school in order for your child to have an excellent experience. We are currently accepting students for the Academic year 2025 or a 3/6/9 month term. In order to enroll for Sept 25, the last date we can accept bookings is March 2025.
Academic Package Jan 25 to May 25 and Sept 25 to May 26.

We would love to bring in students so they would be able to learn about our culture and explore our town. We live in a beautiful, scenic area in the west of Ireland; it is a 15 min drive to Castlebar, Claremorris, and Ballinrobe.
The local school is Balla secondary school, and the school bus stops outside my gate every morning to collect for school and to return home.
On weekends when there is no school, there is no strict schedule in this home so breakfast and all meals are relaxed. Students can either come and go as they please.
Bus from our gate to Castlebar is normally around 11.30am, which would have to be pre-booked. We will gladly help with organizing the bus for them so they can explore the shops, restaurants, bowling, cinema, etc.
We can arrange pick up or provide them with a phone number for a Taxi, available to drop them home for approximately (40 euro). If they would like more time shopping, the bus returns to Ballyglass around 4 pm. There are plenty of taxis in Castlebar.
As the students or couples would be over 18 years old, I can organize day trips to tourist areas. We also have adult bikes available to students if they want to explore the village and surrounding attractions: Moorehall, which is approximately 6 km; Ballintubber Abbey, approximately 8 km. Our local grocery shop and butchers is less than a 10-minute drive away or a 20-minute cycle.
There are lovely scenic walks such as Moorehall, Ballintubber Abbey, Ashford Castle, and a beautiful waterfall in Tourmakeady.
