NEW - Welcome to Siobhan and Ray's family home
We have a Spanish student for the academic year so to guarantee full immersion we would love a student from another country for the academic year. We are a kind and friendly family of four. My husband Ray is a Horse Trainer, so we have over 30 Horses that you could ride out and I am a high school teacher and a qualified TEFL teacher. The wellbeing of young people is something I am also hugely passionate about and I am a best selling author having written 3 books linked with wellbeing in young people. The last book called Winning Wellbeing was published by Folens 2 years ago and it is currently on the Junior Cycle Wellbeing school course here in Ireland. We have two children, Liam (15) and Amy (13). As a host family, we offer a warm, friendly welcome and a caring environment where an international student can enjoy a happy stay and be treated as part of our family. We live in a beautiful part of the countryside and our household has a wide range of interests. Our children are actively involved in sports such as hurling, camogie, horse riding, soccer, golf and swimming, and both play musical instruments. We look forward to sharing our home with you and providing a genuine experience of Irish hospitality.
We have two spare rooms, so each student would have a separate room, where they can avail of the free pool table, foosball table, dart board, table tennis, basketball, sports equipment, trampoline and home gym. You can also ride the Horses here on the farm.
The nearby secondary school where our son attends is known for its caring environment, where both students and teachers are exceptionally welcoming. The principal takes the time to become acquainted with each student personally. The school boasts an excellent reputation, consistently performing well in both academic and sporting events.
During the week, our routine includes breakfast in the morning before I drive you to school, where you will receive a packed lunch. After school, there’s a snack, followed by homework and then dinner. In the evenings, we engage in various activities such as taking walks, using our home gym, attending hurling training and matches or enjoying our games room, which is equipped with a pool table, foosball table, screen projector, table tennis and dart board.
On weekends, our schedule is a bit more relaxed. We start with breakfast, followed by some shopping and lunch. Afternoons might involve attending a local sports event, horse riding, working on the farm with the horses, spending time with the dogs, playing matches, or a round of golf. Evenings are usually spent unwinding while hosting our children’s friends, having dinner together, watching TV, and relaxing.
We look forward to integrating you into our daily routines and ensuring you experience the fullness of our family life and Irish culture.
