SCHOOL STAY PREFERENCE
I am the mother of two children. We live in the city in a large house with an outdoor space. I chose to take care of my children full time. Virgile is 15 years old, and he is homeschooled. He has various activities, whether it's learning piano, DIY projects, taking care of animals, sports, or going out alone in the forest (on foot or by mountain bike). Céleste is 14 years old, and she is enrolled in a private school 10 minutes' walk from home. Céleste sails at a high level. Sports are a significant part of her daily life, just like music with her guitar lessons. We also have a fish: Bubule, a cat: Ray of Sunshine, and some rabbits.
We love to spend time as a family, and preparing meals as well as the culinary challenges/discoveries on the weekends allow us to share pleasant moments together. We also enjoy doing creative/decorative hobbies and board games with Céleste. Culture plays a significant role in my education; we regularly visit museums, temporary exhibitions, and we go to the theater, the circus, the opera, and the cinema. We also regularly go on vacation to discover France, from Alsace to Brittany, passing through the Loire Valley castles or Provence; we would be happy to introduce our beautiful country. The children also really enjoy amusement parks. We go to Disneyland every year. We are also considering returning to Futuroscope, Puy du Fou, Parc Astérix, Vulcania, O'Gliss, and more.
I adapt to the rhythm and needs of the children, but we never get bored if we are motivated. I can also offer (at no extra cost) French language lessons depending on the profile and desire of the young person. We go to Catholic mass every week (there is no obligation). Near our home, there is a Protestant and evangelical parish.
In the morning, breakfast is taken in sync with school hours, the table is set. Then it's time for Céleste to walk to school and for Virgile to work in his room. At noon, we have lunch with Virgile, a meal that I cooked. Céleste eats at the canteen. After school, it’s snack time (homemade cake or fresh bread) and homework time. In the evening, we prepare the meal together and then eat around the table. Some evenings, the activities of one and another overlap with our organization. Wednesday afternoons are for sports for everyone. Saturday and Sunday are more relaxed days when we enjoy going for walks or visiting Paris.
We wish to offer the young people we welcome a visit to Paris once a month, as well as numerous cultural activities (visits to Lisieux, the gardens of Giverny, or sports activities). Depending on each family, we can also propose holidays and trips in France (for an additional fee). We live in the city and have many activities to offer, whether cultural or sporting. We have activities with the local MJC such as drawing, music, video editing… a lot of sports is available in clubs: tennis, scuba diving, athletics, combat sports, etc. We also have high-level clubs in gymnastics, judo, roller-skating, and sailing, with which an exchange could be very enriching if your young person is a high-level athlete.
For schooling, we have around us 2 public institutions and 2 private institutions. Enrollment in a general or technical program can be considered, but we also have the possibility for the young person to join a vocational class (sales, commerce, hospitality, electricity, maintenance, laboratory/chemistry, metal work) during their stay in France, with the possibility of doing unpaid internships.
