Hello,
I am a young retiree, a school teacher, I taught my entire career in French public schools and one year in Germany to teach French to young German children. I have also been a teacher in a bilingual French/German class. I love my mother tongue, French, I enjoy teaching it, speaking it, and writing it. I also have a qualification to teach German. My other languages are Spanish and English. For the past two years, I have been teaching French as a foreign language to migrants in a neighborhood association, and I also help schoolchildren with their homework.
I live in the southwest of France, in the beautiful city of Toulouse, in a really quiet and pleasant residential area. I have a 4-room apartment of 88 m² on the ground floor in a wooded and secure residence. I have a nice private garden of 300 m² with a terrace, and the residence offers a private swimming pool accessible for free from mid-May to the end of September, very close to my apartment.
I am the mother of three adult children, one of my daughters also lives in Toulouse, but none of them live with me anymore. My children are a cybersecurity officer, a general practitioner, and a singing teacher. Now that I am retired, I am fully available to receive guests.
I have a lovely guest room with storage spaces and a desk available for guests, as well as a study that also has two twin beds, so I can accommodate three people at the same time. All the rooms and the living room overlook the garden, with no immediate neighbors. The only bathroom will be shared. The toilets are separate.
I have three very gentle cats.
Adolescent of at least 15 years old.
I can welcome a sibling group or two or three friends.
In the morning, there is a European breakfast - or according to the guests’ choice - during which we will establish our program for the day or the following days.
In the morning, thanks to my experience as a teacher and a French as a Foreign Language facilitator for migrants, I can provide an hour of French lessons: oral expression, vocabulary improvement, spelling, grammar, conjugation both orally and in writing using various materials: authentic documents, textbooks, files, computer...
At noon, we will have a communal meal at the apartment or outside in case of an excursion; I am a good cook and will share my know-how with you! It will be a pleasure to cook together and introduce you to new recipes using quality products. I will be able to adapt to special diets if necessary (for example: vegetarian cooking is possible).
In the early afternoon, I propose a quiet and individual time. In good weather - which is very common in Toulouse! - we can enjoy a break on a deckchair on the terrace or in the garden.
In the afternoon, starting from 2:30 PM, numerous outings are possible: Toulouse, whose center is accessible by metro not far from the residence, is a rich and friendly city with a beautiful heritage. Depending on your tastes, we can visit different museums, stroll through the streets of the "pink city", go shopping, walk along the Garonne or tour the various parks and lakes of the city and its outskirts, visit the Cité de l'Espace or the Aéroscopia aeronautics museum...
From mid-May to the end of September, the residence's swimming pool is available to us; it is little frequented during the residents' working hours.
Dinner will be served at the apartment between 7 PM and 8 PM, and the evening may involve conversations in French, cultural outings (concerts or cinema, to be decided before the stay at an extra cost). I also have DVDs, and Wi-Fi (fiber) is available in all rooms. I have TNT television, but I don’t personally have Netflix. I also have board games.
Twice a week, I will propose an excursion: there are very beautiful sites in the Tarn (Lautrec and its pastel culture, Cordes-sur-Ciel, a magnificent medieval city, Gaillac, Albi...) and I am open to any other suggestion, I love tourism and have a car.
And if you are eager to see the Mediterranean, a day trip to Narbonne or Gruissan is possible, with an extra charge for this one hour and forty-five minutes trip. The same applies to a day trip to the Pyrenees.
The public transport network is very developed and convenient in Toulouse: metro, tramway, bus, bike lanes with bikes to rent from one place to another... Toulouse-Blagnac airport, 20 minutes by car from my place, serves many cities, as does the SNCF train station. An adult guest can easily be independent. For minors, I am available for any car connections (airport or train station pick-up upon arrival, assistance for the return) and to accompany them on all their outings.
